Ayurvedic Treatment For Paralysis
Pakshaghata is the Ayurvedic term for paralysis. It is a condition where one side of the body is affected, similar to hemiplegia. "Paksha" means one side, and "ghata" means striking or affecting. In Ayurveda, paralysis is generally categorised as a Vata disorder. Ayurveda attributes the manifestation of paralysis to an imbalance or aggravation of the Vata dosha, which is associated with movement and nervous system function. The underlying causes of paralysis in Ayurveda are believed to be related to factors that disturb the balance of Vata, leading to impaired nerve function and loss of motor control. Factors such as excessive stress, inadequate rest, improper diet, trauma, and ageing are believed to contribute to Vata imbalance.
Ayurvedic management of paralysis typically involves therapies and treatments aimed at pacifying the aggravated Vata dosha, improving circulation, and revitalising the affected tissues. Panchakarma, a set of detoxification procedures, is often recommended to eliminate toxins and restore balance. Ayurvedic herbs, oils, and therapeutic massages are also employed to nourish and strengthen the affected areas.
